Pastor Paul’s Paragraphs

Dear Members and Friends of Sweetwater Baptist Church:

Blessings!! I love Vacation Bible School! It has always played an important part of my ministry as a pastor. I am still rejoicing over the wonderful VBS we had this year during the dates of June 12-16. We had an awesome time at “Maker Fun Factory!” We averaged 117 children for the week. We had 30+ profession of faiths. And we collected over $389.00 for the Connie Maxwell Home. “Praise the Lord for His many blessings!” I would like to say “thank you” to every worker, volunteer, and leader that made this year’s VBS a complete success. A special “thanks” goes out to Mrs. Missy Ferraro, our VBS Director, for her “labor of love” and leadership. “Thank you, Missy, for all your hard work and for going the extra mile!” I can hardly wait until next year’s school.

We love missions here at Sweetwater! On Sunday morning, July 2nd, Gerald and Alice Harkins, missionaries to Senegal, will be with us during the morning worship service. Gerald is the brother of Mrs. Lynn Mathis. We will be on a special schedule on July 2nd. There will be no 8:30 worship service. Sunday School will start at 9:30 am. And the morning worship service will be at 10:45 am. We will be receiving a “Love Offering” during the service to support the work and ministry of the Harkins in Senegal. Please, be much in prayer about what the Lord would have you to give to this special couple doing the Lord’s work in Africa.

One of the great privileges of the Christian life is service. Psalm 100:2 says, “Serve the Lord with gladness.” (KJV) Our Nominating Committee will soon be at work to select workers, teachers, committee members, officers, etc. for the new church year. Enclosed you will find a volunteer sur-vey form. This form will be a tremendous help to your Nominating Committee as they meet. Please, fill it out as soon as possible and place it in the collection box in the Information Center or “The Vault.” Thank you for your willingness to serve at Sweetwater. Your service to the Lord and the “Body of Christ” has eternal consequences and is an investment in the work of “The Kingdom of God.”

As we celebrate our country’s independence on July 4th, let’s be mindful to express our gratitude to God for the privilege of living in the United States of America. Our country certainly has its prob-lems, but we are truly a blessed nation! We must never take our freedoms for granted, and we should pray for our nation and its leaders daily.
Is is a joy and a privilege to serve you!!

With a Pastor’s Love,
Brother Paul
