“PASTOR PAUL’S PARAGRAPHS”
Dear Members and Friends of Sweetwater Baptist Church:
I want to begin by saying “thank you” to everyone who supported the “Change for the Children” emphasis for the Connie Maxwell Home throughout the month of January. I am certainly looking forward to the new president, Dr. Danny Nicholson, being with us on Sunday morning, February 4th for both morning worship services. At that time, we will present him a check on behalf of our entire congregation to minister to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the precious children of the Connie Maxwell Home. The Connie Maxwell Home was established in 1892 as a ministry of the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The home was named after little Connie Maxwell who lost her life at the age of seven to scarlet fever. Her parents, Dr. and Mrs. J. C. Maxwell, donated their 470-acre farm to the South Carolina Baptist Convention to establish an orphanage. Since its inception it has impacted over 17,000 individuals. Thank you, Sweetwater, for investing in the lives of the precious children of the Connie Maxwell Home.
Also, on Sunday, February 4th, we will be observing “SOUPER BOWL” Sunday. Please, bring cans of soup, non-perishable food items, and additional canned food items to support our food pantry ministry. You may place them in the containers in the Information Center. Numerous individuals and families are fed out of the Food Pantry each month. Thank you so very much for supporting this very important ministry of the Sweetwater Baptist Church.
I am certainly looking forward to “Closer Walk” being with us in concert on Sunday evening, February 18th, at 6:00 pm. “Closer Walk” is the men’s ensemble group from the First Baptist Church of North Augusta. Be sure to make plans to be a part of this inspirational evening of music and worship.
Recently, on Sunday, January 21st, I preached a message entitled “The Pursuit of Potential.” In 2018 God wants us to achieve our full potential as a church. Philippians 1:6 states, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (NIV) Because I believe this matter is so critical, I would like to remind you of the five requirements in achieving our full potential this year. They include EMPOWERMENT in Prayer (Ephesians 3:20), the ADVANCEMENT of the Gospel (Romans 1:16), COMMITMENT to the Work of God (Psalm 37:5), ADJUSTMENT in Areas that Need Improvement (Mark 2:22), and INVOLVEMENT by Everyone (Psalm 133:1). Let’s all pray that God will help us to achieve our full potential in 2018 by implementing these five elements at Sweetwater.
It is a Joy and Privilege to Serve You!
With a Pastor’s Love,
